OCI Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship 2024/2025

• OCI Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship for Nigerian Students is a scholarship sponsored by the Onyebuchi Chris Ifediora Foundation.
• The foundation was established, founded and registered with Corporate Affairs Commission in 2016. It is a non-profit, non governmental organization.
• It’s aim is to help in breaking barriers through academic excellence targeting vulnerable students and helping with educational funding.
• The driving motive behind this innovation id the believe of the initiator that education is a leveler. Therefore, the foundation aims and removing hindering barriers for students who exceptional academic ability but are faced with educational funding problems.
• In addendum, for the benefit of giving back to the society, the OCI Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship aims to motivate a new generation of African biotech engineers and scientists to acquire relevant knowledge that will find application in the sustainable growth and development of the African continent through the scholarship offer.

Requirements for the Scholarship

• The applying student must be a Nigerian by Nationality
• Applicant must be a student in one of the federal government universities in Nigeria.
• Applying students from private owned varsities are not eligible.
• Applicants must be a potential final year undergraduate student; that is to say that an applying student must have completed his or her 300Level for courses whose duration is 4 years and 400Level for courses whose duration is 5 years.
• Applying Students must not be a beneficiary of similar or any other scholarship.
• Applying Students must have attained a minimum CGPA of 4.0 on a scale of 5.0, 3.0 on a scale of 4.0 and 6.0 on a scale of 7.0.

Selection Criteria

The OCI Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship selection criteria is strictly base on need and merit as the selection team of the foundation pleases, following some laid down merit and need guidelines. 1. First time applicants:

1. A copy of JAMB Admission Letter
2. A copy of certificate of birth and origin
3. Valid School Identity Card (Optional for those who are new to the institution
4. A copy of the National Identity Card

2. Renewing Applicants:

1. A well detailed statement of purpose should be written detailing and containing your motivation for studying your course and your intended plans after graduation.
2. Clearly make explanation on why you made the conclusion to study your current course, the challenges you have encountered so far, your intended research for your undergraduate project, your plans after graduation, how you plan to make an impact in your country and Africa at large, and other details and achievements that you feel would strengthen your application.
3. Applicants should try as much to demonstrate through their writing why they need the scholarship and reasons they should be offered the scholarship. Make sure that your statement of purpose is not longer than 2 pages and should be saved as a PDF document.
   NOTE: There is no writing style required for the statement of purpose or application letter. Write in brief and make sure you express yourself in your own words and in your own writing style.
4. A well structured CV/ resume should be drafted and saved in PDF format.
   2 letters of recommendation should be obtained from lecturers (or professors) in your department.
5. Scan these letters and save them in PDF format.
6. Scanners can be used to scan these letters or better still use your mobile phone to do so.
7. Also obtain a signed letter from your HOD or course coordinator affirming that you are not a beneficiary of any other scholarship.
8. Try to obtain a copy of your undergraduate transcript from the institution’s academician showing your grades from your first year to your current level, it will surely give you an edge above most people if you had a good performance.
9. Obtain a statement or document either from the varsity’s bulletin or student affairs that clearly states the full amount of your tuition (school fee), the commencement and ending date of your final year, the official deadline for payment of your school fee, your undergraduate project topic from your respective department (if at all you have any) including the budget for your undergraduate project (if there is need).
10. After following the above mentioned guidelines and procedures, proceed to send all documents to info@ocifoundation.org making sure that all the documents are in PDF format.

Kindly note that the OCI foundation scholarship for undergraduate students covers the whole tuition fees throughout the years of study if applicants has successfully been awarded the scholarship. Renewal is required after every academic year.
